Meet Van our extraordinary Accountant and GIBTK team member. Here is the latest note from one of our Vietnam team members

Van's Journal

"I am really lucky to be a member of GIBTK family. This time makes my life so meaningful and happy. I have been working at GIBTK for over one year. GIBTK and donors have given less fortunate kids a real love and I have been deeply impressed by the way they love the kids.

We have six homes for less fortunate kids. I am truly emotional when I think about them. They all have special circumstance, they come from poor family and suffer congenital diseases, they lack love and hope in their life...

But everything has been changed since they was a part of GIBTK family. They deserve to be taken care of, educated and to have unconditional love like others. Since living in our homes, they always have big and confident smiles. I know that their life has been transformed.

This is so great to me. GIBTK has been taking care of them both physically and mentally, especially their spirit. Therefore, it is easy for us to realize when the kids are facing with their problem and help them to overcome it. And the most important thing is they are not abandoned when they make mistakes.

You know, when the kids do something wrong and the consequences may affect other members. Probably you have two options: the first is to kick them out and the second is redirect them, help them go back to the right way and make them believe in their value. Normally, "One drop of poison infects the whole of wine", I am sure that other people will choose option 1. But it does not happen in GIBTK. We make it different. Option 2 is always our top.

First of all, GIBTK team often have a discussion about the situation, find out the reason why the kids did it, name the problem and then ask the psychologists for advice (if necessary) and finally take action to solve the problem. With this way, these kids have changed in positive directions. How can GIBTK do that? With unconditional love, help the kids understand that how much we love them and they are valuable to us, we want them to be better men and have a better future.

Not only GIBTK but also the donors have been transforming the kids' life. They always accompany us. They also love our kids by all their empathetic heart. I can't hold my tear whenever their arms are outstretched to them. They care for them, encourage them and always watch over them. Their love touched my heart and I believe that we have been doing our mission well (transforming lives).

Sometimes people don't care about a detail, a little thing. However, a little thing can make big difference. GIBTK and donors have done this well. They pay attention to all of the kids, even small details. I still remember the first week when I worked at GIBTK, I checked all the paper works (receipts, vouchers, credit orders...) of two years. I had a look at each transaction to know how GIBTK was doing. I caught a payment by suddenly. What is it? I wonder if they pay for kids' brace. Really? I am truly so surprised at this. They cared for them as their children, their grandchildren. Thanks for this, our kids feel more confident and valuable. I have never seen any people do it before. Through their action, I make a slogan for myself and work on it: "Take care of the details because the more you miss little things, the more you lost a bigger thing".

One more thing that makes me very happy is that we have established an English Club for our kids at weekend. English Club help them to practice English, prepare them with soft skills: How they can get a job; how they should look; how they impress the employer and the way they answer at an interview. This environment is also helpful to me. I can improve my English. And the important thing is that we have fun after working time. It is so amazing. And you know what we all do it for the kids. We want to prepare all the necessary tools for them to be independent to socialize. The best way to help other people is to teach them how to get a fish, not just give a fish to them. And when you are not there, they can earn the fish by themselves.

GIBTK and donors are willing to do all for our kids without receiving back. They inspire me a lot, elevate my character and show me what the real love is. From deep of my heart, thank you so much for everything they give unfortunate people in Viet Nam. I hope that their real love will spread all over the word.

Thank you so much."

Van Phan.
